Can I get a loan with no credit history?
Getting a loan with no credit history is challenging but possible. FHA loans accept borrowers who cannot produce a traditional credit score and allow alternative credit references Γ’β¬β utility payments, rent payments, and insurance payments can substitute for traditional tradelines. Credit unions are often more flexible than banks for members with thin credit profiles. Secured credit cards (backed by a cash deposit) and credit-builder loans are designed specifically to establish credit history. Becoming an authorized user on someone else's account or obtaining a co-signer with strong credit can also help. Some online lenders use alternative data (income, education, employment) in underwriting models that do not rely solely on credit scores.
